WOOHOO! My final fall semester of undergrad is over! As usual, I'm here to do a simple recap of everything that happened this semester, and it's a lot!
I started the semester returning to OU for Resident Assistant training with housing. I moved into True House on South Green and prepped the building for residents to move in. I also got to reunite with my friends and former staff!
As the semester began, I had my first day of senior year before my sister, Amy, came down to visit in early September for the Pawpaw Festival (both of our first times going)! During her visit, we not only went to the Pawpaw Festival, but I showed her the Ridges (former Athen's Asylum), White's Mill (Former mill, currently garden center and gift shop), and went to dinner at Jackie O's Uptown! The next morning I also took her to Union Street Diner for her first time.
The following weekend I went home to get my Maid of Honor dress altered for my sister's wedding in October. I made the most of the weekend home and read to my sister's class, as well as going to the Cleveland Flea and out to dinner to Southside in Tremont! Following the weekend, we unfortunately had to put down our 21-year-old cat, Angel.
As classes continued, I went home again in October for my sister's wedding. We had a full day of getting our nails and hair done before the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The day of the wedding we had full hair and makeup before a beautiful ceremony and perfect reception.
During my time home, we had gone to the Berea ARF to look at the shelter cats available. The day I returned back to school, my mom mad the final decision to adopt 11-year-old black cat, Malone. After a huge weekend, I returned to school for one of the "biggest" weekends during fall semester: HallOUween. As an RA, I had to work the weekend checking wristbands and doing rounds within my complex.
Following Halloween, I returned home to celebrate my 21st birthday. I did this because I wanted to have a calm 21st and not a huge party or forced to go out at school. (I also wanted to meet and hangout with our new cat!) That Saturday, I went on a hike to see Brandywine Falls, followed with ice cream from Country Maid Creamery and a visit to Stone Garden Farm & Village. I celebrated by 21st with brunch and mimosas at Southside in Tremont with cake at home!
With just a few weeks of classes left during the fall semester, my mom and dad came down to Hocking Hills for a hike through Old Man's Cave and dinner. It was a nice break from campus and fun to see their first experience hiking in Hocking Hills!
With the end of the semester approaching, it was time to go home for Thanksgiving break. I had a nice "relaxing" break while still working on final assignments. I was even able to go out in Cleveland with my sister and spend the night at her apartment (YAY for finally being 21!)
After break, I had just one week left of classes before finals week began. With one exam and four papers to write, I worked hard to get everything completed within their deadlines. I also had to work and check the entire residence hall after everyone left before we could be released. I was finally released Saturday at 4:30 and made the 3 hour drive home back to Cleveland. When I arrived home, I quickly unpacked, packed an overnight bag and met my sister and brother-in-law out in Tremont as they had been on a Santa bar crawl that day and spent the night at their apartment. The following day we had a mini early Christmas since my sister and brother-in-law would be spending Christmas in Nova Scotia, Canada.
I've had an absolutely insanely busy semester full of hard classes (but I got 4 As and 1 A-!) and was honestly burnt-out by the end of the semester. I couldn't be happier to finally relax and have no projects or papers to worry about for the next few weeks. Soon enough I'll be returning to school for winter RA training and for the start of my FINAL semester before graduating (please hire me) with a degree in Journalism and certificates in Social Media and Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies.
